43/366 - Today is Brought to You by the Letter "B" - as in "Boat Show"
February 12, 2012 – We wandered around the Vancouver Boat Show today. Bought our annual tide tables, looked at a few things, chatted with a fellow about resurfacing our back teak deck, scoped out a few new sailboats, ran into a couple of people we knew.
It was a grey drizzly day, but what made it really nice was that the tickets were free.
It’s funny, in about 13 years of going to the boat show we’ve only actually ever had to buy tickets once, and that was last year. The marina we used to moor at always sent out free tickets to all its moorage customers, but we moved our boat to Burrard Yacht Club a year and a half ago, so last year we have to pay for them, it was strange to have to purchase them and I almost forgot to do it in advance for the savings.
But this year, out of the blue, a fellow from our previous boating class, and who happens to work in the same building I do, offered me two free guest passes.
A nice $30 savings that we applied to two bowls of seafood chowder and a couple of glasses of wine at Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island, later in the day.
