I feel like I’ve been drowning lately. It’s been grey and damp forever, at least it feels that way. The sun made a brief appearance this morning for a few hours and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather to get out for a scoot and take a few photos. Down low the sun actually provided some warmth, but I ended up spending most of my time up high, near the tree line. It’s fun to explore some of the high roads on the North Shore, it’s amazing what a view you can get from up there.
I decided to see what, if anything, was going on up at Grouse Mountain and headed up to the base of the tram. It seemed funny to be riding up there on a scooter while there were people lining up in full ski gear to get on the lift for a morning of skiing…not that there is much snow up there. I always think it’s fun how people react to me on a scooter. It is a rare event when I stop and someone doesn’t talk to me. The scooter just seems to make people smile.
There were a number of huge trucks disgorging piles of lighting equipment and other news-reporting paraphernalia. NBC is setting up shop in the lookout at the top of the mountain. They may have very little snow, but they’ll have one heck of a view of the city if the clouds stay at bay. And if you see amazing snow filled shots from there…they were filmed in November when they came out for site previewing. Unless we get a dump in the next week, which isn’t likely looking at the forecast.
On the way back down I stopped briefly at the Cleveland Dam which holds back the water to form the Capilano water reservoir. No level problems at this time of year, and it was pleasant to see the snow covered Lions making an appearance, however briefly.
