Day 53 - Welcome to the Green Olympics

53/365 (February 22, 2010) – Vancouver wanted to be the greenest Olympics ever, but this wasn’t quite what VANOC meant.

But if anyone out there thinks the Olympics shouldn’t have been here because of our mild climate….allow me to point out that Sochi, the site of the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics…has a frigid forecast of plus 15C tomorrow… their climate is classified as subtropical… at least we are a “temperate” rainforest…although no one would believe that “rain” forest bit right now.

Just wait a couple of days though…… because here it comes… it’s about to get grey and wet…which will ultimately make it greener yet…

  3. I did enjoy myself, however, there weren’t as many people there as I thought there would be.

  4. I certainly don’t think the Olympics shouldn’t have been here based on the "mild climate"
However, I do feel that they should have better reviewed the decision to keep the events that were on Cypress and perhaps moved them to Whistler.
That said, besides the loss in spectator areas and cancelled tickets on Cypress, they have managed to pull it off pretty well, considering the conditions they were faced with.
