Gah! Trying to get work done on a laptop is a challenge when you live with a cat like Loki!!!!

I was prepping some things out at UBC for a course I am running and when walking in from the street parking (I scooted) I encountered these strange signs near Koerner’s and the Art Building. Took me off guard and then I ralized I was also in close proximity to the UBC First Nations House of Learning. I haven’t had…

Some days you go riding, some days you go boating, somedays you manage to get both in. And on really awesome days, you manage to combine the two by taking the bikes on a boat. Took a side-trip this weekend to visit friends hanging out on a nearby island. We joined them for dinner and then caught the last ferry…

It’s hard to believe this fabulous escape is so close to home that you can spend a day and still be home before dark. You’d think you were so far away from everything, and even though geographically this is near the city, mentally it just takes you away from everything.

I’ve been trying all week to catch up on marking papers for my two University courses. At the end of it all, this is what my brain feels like. Cloudy, fuzzy, there is some strange pattern there but it’s hard to discern. Seriously – I received papers that were ecological tirades when the instructions were “leave bias out of it”.…

I’m finding it a bit harder to get my shots done since taking on a new job. I’m still in the early stages of figuring out the balance and juggling things a bit differently. Like one of us remembering to take anything out for dinner before we both leave for the day. Oh well, dinner at the local pub is…

I think the highlight of the week was definitely riding the Duffy Lake Loop. Not the most comfortable experience on my bike, it’s not really a sport bike friendly road, more of an enduro/cruiser/touring road with its bumps and tar snakes, but I did it! All 600km of it. And I had a very sore back to show for it…

Loki taking centre stage again. Morning was horrible weather again, pouring rain. We seem to have completely skipped past Spring, enjoyed a day and a half of summer, and launched right back into fall. The sun made an appearance later in the day though, and so we moved to the deck to do some reading. We contained the cats by…

Dropped by Granville Island today to pick up some lunch meats at Oyama and some bocconcini at Duso’s. This guy worked the Duso’s counter and was quite the character. I loved the chalkboard as it refers to the idiots involved in the riots Wednesday! I was only after the sign but this ham couldn’t resist diving into every shot I…

Chillin’ in Puerto Vallarta for 12 days. Chillin’ is deceptive though. It has been hot and sticky with the humidity and the only way to cool down is get into the water, lie on a cold marble floor in an air conditioned room, or drink icy drinks. I’ve done all three, currently working on the icy drinks!
