208/365 (July 27, 2010) – Strawberries with cream and a dash of brown sugar.
I also love strawberries drizzled with a good (read 25 year aged) balsamic vinegar drizzled over them. Or, put out a dish of strawberries, a small dipping bowl of good balsamic, and a small dipping bowl of heavy cream. Dip the strawberry into the vinegar, then the cream, then pop it into your mouth. Sounds strange if you’ve never tried it, but trust me, the acidity of the balsamic with the sweetness of the strawberries and the creamy richness of the cream can’t be beat. Pure heaven!
I just love this season!

207/365 (July 26, 2010) – I love blueberry season…. what’s not to love? Wonderful little packages of flavour that go with everything from yogurt to salmon.
Summer pleasures…sigh…
And the best part is, after the photo shoot, you get to eat your subject!

205/354 (July 24, 2010) – Well, actually it’s a coffee shop, but since I already drank an iced Americano before leaving home, and had a few moments of frustration on the bike…and hadn’t eaten anything…I decided more caffeine wasn’t a great idea.
So water it was.
We tried to take the low road out of North Vancouver but managed to get ourselves caught in the traffic and road closures for the Caribbean Days parade, so a detour (with me making a few minor errors) and we took the highway out to East Vancouver where Kirk had his bike looked at for a minor oil leak. Wandered over to JJ Bean for breakfast and then on the road out the Barnet Highway and up into Anmore Village where a deer at the side of the road was a concern for both of us until we passed without it darting into our path.
Then a nice walk out the the lake, with it’s missing beach. Buntzen Lake is a BC Hydro reservoir. that provided Vancouver with its first hydro-electric power back in 1903. But this summer, the boat launch is closed and the beaches are missing because BC Hydro is replacing the turbine in the Buntzen powerhouse, leading to high water levels in the reservoir.
After that we hopped back on the bikes and headed back onto the North Shore and home. Sore butts all around. Not too many incidents, but I am starting to compile a short list of what I’ve learned in the short time I’ve been riding a motorcycle in Vancouver.
Stay tuned…

204/365 (July 23, 2010) – Hands down my favourite herb, the peppery flavour of basil just pairs so damned well with fresh tomatoes and bocconcini. Pure heaven on a plate. I could forgo the meat and any veg on a plate if you passed me a bowl of tomatoes with basil and bocconcini.
Which makes me realize, I haven’t bought bocconcini in a while…. and I just pruned the basil plants in the garden…
I think I need to go to the market and visit the cheese section of Prima Italian Market.

195/365 (July 14, 2010) – Nothing profound to say, just a day spent trying to catch up on marking and such. Last minute shot pulled from the list of ideas inspired by other images seen on Flickr at some point.
