259/365 (Sept 16, 2011) – Isn’t technology amazing? When I was a kid, headphones used to look like construction ear-muffs and the only way to take your music with you (before the invention of the Walkman) was by carrying your ghetto-blaster. Now headphones wrap up to the size of a matchbook and you can carry 50,000 songs with you in…

I was listening to iTunes this morning and this song popped up. Since the first time I heard it, I have loved the messages within it. Some things we should always think about. There are so many wonderful moments in our lives, we forget about them too often and focus on issues that are meaningless in the grand scheme of…

140/365 (May 20, 2010) – Finally finishing up recording a pile of vinyl albums I borrowed from a friend several years ago. Quite possibly in the next day I may be done and be able to finally claim some closet space back. Currently on the turntable, the Australian Models circa 1984. I had been using Audacity for the recording but…

120/365 (April 20, 2010) – Vinyl still embodies the warmth I love in recorded music. CD’s were just too crisp and cold sounding. I’ve digitized all of my old records, but am still working my way through a pile of vinyl from a friend. I’m going to try and clear these out and return them in the next month or…

A number of years back I dug out all my old vinyl and with a ton of effort and time I managed to rip most of it into mp3 files on my PC. It involved rooting out our old turntable and connecting it in the living room, then running miles of RCA cable into the bedroom where the computer is…

One word…WOW! We went to see Kodo from Japan the other night. Fantastic. It really hits you on some primal level. The beating drums, the blending of harmonious sounds deep, high, hollow, rich. What fascinating music. It was absolutely mesmerizing. If you ever get the opportunity, well worth the ticket.

A year or so ago someone sent me an email with the most insane Christmas light display on a house and it was set to an amazing piece of music. After digging around a bit I finally found who it was and got the album. Trans Siberian Orchestra. I’d never heard of them before but what a great ….band?? I’m…

My iTunes kicked this onto a playlist. Haven’t heard it for awhile and it always makes me pause and think about a lot of things. A lot of good advice in here. Sunscreen – Baz Luhrman ________________________________________ Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99 If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.…

The 80′s were a revolutionary period in music. OK, so were the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s…but the 80′s seem to have staying power. I was lucky enough to get tickets to Duran Duran and the show was last night. Sometimes when groups from the past do a tour in the today, they lean too much on their material from way…
