Day 68 – Magnolia
March 9th, 2010, posted in Photography68/365 (March 9, 2010) – We often joke that Spring starts January 1st in Vancouver. Sometimes that’s not entirely correct, but this year seems to be one of those early Springs I enjoy so much. While there is a chance of snow flurries in the forecast, it’s not likely to amount to much, and it’s certainly not deterring the flowers in my garden!
Day 67 – Toasted Milo
March 8th, 2010, posted in CritterTalk, Photography67/365 (March 8, 2010) – OK, I’m playing a frantic game of catch up after being away from my computer for over a week and this was the best I could do today.
We rarely turn our heat on in the bedroom but since I work at my computer during the day, I have a little space heater to keep warm. And the second it is turned on…cats appear as if by magic. They plant themselves in front of it and suck up all the heat, so even though I have a heater…they get the benefit and I stay chilled until they decide to walk away, which isn’t often.
Obviously I need another heater or two…
Day 66 – Gizmo
March 7th, 2010, posted in CritterTalk, Photography66/365 (March 7, 2010) – Love him. Hate him. Sometimes want to roast him alive. He screams when i want silence. Tries to attack the cats when they get too close. And has tantrums like a two year old. He’s middle aged now, and not going anywhere any time soon. Sometimes that’s great. Other times… well, we’ll just leave it at that.
The thing is, he can charm the socks off you when he wants to. And visitors? Well, he’s a Prince Charming to anyone who walks through that door. No one would understand what a devil he can be unless they took a few weeks to live with him….
Day 65 – Saturday Afternoon in the Marina
March 6th, 2010, posted in Photography, The Environment65/365 (March 6, 2010) – Home again, home again. Bring on the weather. The day was stunning and we got out on the scooter and visited Granville Island for some much needed groceries. The city seems to be breathing a collective sigh of relief. The Olympics are over. Canada did amazingly. And things are getting back to normal in Vancouver.
In the afternoon a friend called us up and invited us down to her sailboat. We whiled away the remainder of the day sitting in the warmth of the sun, 15 C. Can you ask for more in March? We seem to have skipped winter, skimmed through Spring, and are heading right for summer.
I love it here!
Day 64 – Almost Home
March 5th, 2010, posted in Photography, The Environment, Travel34/365 (March 5, 2010) – Almost home. Ontario was great, seeing a friend was wonderful. But there is no sight I appreciate more than the sight of the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Yes, I also love the interior Rockies, but these mountains…they mean home. Even if they do also represent dormant volcanoes.
